Our extra strong square stakes 60cm and 1.2m tall

We do two square stake sizes – our standard 32mm square ones in several heights and these, our extra strong versions for jobs that need something larger!

We do two heights – our 60cm tall ones are usually used as site markers and pegging out ground areas – the 1.2m tall ones are ideal for fencing, direction posts at events and staking trees etc.

How to stake a tree:

If your tree is placed on a slope, attempt to put your stake in at a 45-degree angle leaning into the prevailing wind. You need to ensure that your stake is far enough away that it is not going to damage the roots of the tree. Once you have the position ready for your stake, hammer it in at least 5 inches preventing it from falling over in the wind. Once your stake is completely in, make a figure of eight using your buckle tie and attach it to the stake and the tree (avoid making it too tight). Once this is done your tree is all ready to go!

Why Use These Stakes?

Scandinavian and Baltic Slow Grown Trees

Due to the colder climate in Scandinavian and Baltic countries the trees in this region grow much slower than in other parts of the world. This results in the rings of the trees being much closer together causing the timber to be much denser. This increased density means the stakes made from this wood to be much stronger and less likely to break. All our stakes are sourced from FSC approved woodlands.

HC4 Pressure Treated

All our posts are HC4 pressure treated meaning they are specifically designed to be permanently in the ground. In the first stage of this treatment the stakes are kiln dried reducing the moisture content to a maximum of 28%.

The dried timber is then pressure treated, which forces the preservative deep into the dried wood – this results in highly durable and water resistant timber – the outcome is timber that can endure around 15 years of continuous ground contact.
