What is Hevea Hardwood?

Hevea wood grows in managed plantations in South East Asia where it is grown primarily for the rubber (latex) that it produces throughout its early years.

When the tree reaches around 30 years of age, latex production drastically decreases and the tree is cut down and a new one planted in its place.

The timber of the fallen tree is turned into our chopping boards and other household items. Hevea is a hardwood and extremely durable and hard wearing.

Because Hevea is uniquely grown in managed plantations, our chopping boards don’t contribute to deforestation during their creation as every tree that is cut down is replaced with another.

Hevea is a renewable natural resource.

Gentle on Knife Edges

Because Hevea is a hardwood it provides a durable cutting surface that resists knife marks but is also kinder to knife edges and won’t dull the blade as easily as a glass chopping board.

Here at Personalised Store we don’t just lightly mark our chopping boards with our designs. Instead we deep engrave them with the latest laser engraving technology to provide a long lasting finish that won’t wash off over time. To preserve the dark colour tone of the design it is possible to use the chopping board on the reverse side. Our chopping boards are also complete with a built in juice groove. Ideal for cutting fruit and vegetables.
