The Bekal Range

The Bekal rug is a gorgeous natural shade of sandy beige. The warm tones are broken up with stylish off-white pin-stripes leaving a margin at each end and a hand tied fringed finish with tassels. The base material is a finely woven yarn which has been spun from recycled cotton and jute. You may find small threads of other materials but this is all part of the charm!

These lovely products are hand woven on traditional flat looms by skilled artisan weavers. The result is a simple flat weave rug around half a centimetre in thickness. This makes them ideal for placement under furniture as well as in an open room.

The rugs are reversible with the same design on each side and they can be rolled up or folded when not in use. They can be shaken, or spot cleaned and our customers report that the rug can be gently washed in cool water.

There are six sizes to choose from; small, medium, large and a long runner version.

Love is the Rug here at Second Nature Online. No matter how much our products have evolved and diversified over the years, rugs have always been our heart’s desire. There are many beautifully crafted pieces out there and we have travelled far and wide to find the perfect ranges.

Our rugs are mostly flat woven on traditional wooden hand looms and there is no machinery involved. We specialise in rag rugs, braided rugs, kilims and dhurries.

💪 DURABLE & STURDY – The flat weave style is hand woven on a traditional loom and no machinery is involved. The end result is a lightweight rug that is thin and with no pile. The finished piece is reversible meaning that it can be rolled up when not in use. It can be shaken, or spot cleaned if necessary. If placing on a hard floor with heavy footfall, then you may wish to use rug mesh or similar to hold the rug in place.

Please note that the recycled material content of the rug may result in small fragments and threads of other materials including synthetic threads. Each one is unique since no two patterns are identical. It’s all part of the charm!
💧 CARE OF YOUR RUG – These rugs are durable and easy to clean. They can be shaken, or spot cleaned if necessary, and many customers report that the rugs can be gently washed, separately in cool water. Take care to avoid colour transfer especially if the rug becomes damp. Please dry flat to avoid creasing.
👉 CHOOSE FROM A VARIETY OF SIZES – If you are looking to mix and match a little then you will find six sizes to choose from. A small 60 cm x 90 cm mat and 70 cm x 130 cm runner; a medium sized 90 cm x 150 cm and a 120 cm x 180 cm. We also have a medium runner in 70 cm x 200 cm and a large 150 cm x 240 cm.
