A kitchen demon!
EDIT: just over 4 years in and it still works well. The plastic chome-effect details are wearing, but they still look fine. The interior paint, however, has started blistering and rusting. The door would usually be left ajar as the light only comes on in operation, to try and avoid this, but it hasnât worked. The bearing on the turntable wheel is quite rough and this likely didnât help, and spreads the rust around far more than my previous micros. This is such a pity, as I would hold onto it for years more otherwise.Original review still stands though:…in a good way! This is a very pretty, good-sized and easy to use microwave. Itâs 900w but it feels like more; even the med-high setting seems more powerful than my previous 800w (Morphy Richards and Samsung) microwaves! The defrost setting is incredibly efficient too.Itâs easy to keep clean and even after a year there doesnât seem to be any bulging or break-down of the white interior. The blue colour is is gorgeous and the unit looks very smart. Two small negatives though:1- A lot of condensation can build up so I would give it a wipe down quickly to mop up water and preserve the enamel.2- The light bulb is VERY dim, so itâs almost impossible to see if things like milk/porridge/rice pudding are bubbling up. However, a positive is that you can leave the door open and the light wonât be on, using unnecessary electricity

Easy to use
I bought this for my 80 year old dad. There are very few mechanical microwaves on the market at this power so it was a limited choice. It works very well and gets the job done. The pointer on the chrome dials could be hard to make out by someone with poor eyesight, although you can feel the mark on the dial. I would recommend

Simple straight forward microwave
I wanted a simple microwave that didnât roast, bake or do anything other than microwave, I didnât want it to be heavy and itâs not itâs nice and light. Itâs very stylish , love the dials and the retro look, my only negative comment is the timer is not accurate at low times , like one minute, I have to refer to my clock as thereâs too much â play â in the dial. It doesnât bother me too much but doing something for a minute or less is made a little complicated by this, my old microwave was very easy to set for 30 seconds etc this one just isnât. I am however pleased with it overall and would recommend.

Not 900 watt but ok
It’s a nice looking microwave but it doesn’t heat as a 900watt should, it’s ok to use as an 800watt though. Seems ok.

Needs a fair bit of space.
After having to return another make of micrwave to Amazon because of a potentially dangerous fault (it wouldnât switch off and the power setting was stuck on full!), I ended up looking at a different brand and in the end bought this Swan microwave. It was more expensive than the faulty one, but for the extra fifteen quid or so, there was a more powerful microwave and it had a bigger internal volume. This is the type of microwave that I was after â two controls (one for power and one for time) and at 900 watts it is more powerful and therefore quicker than most of the microwaves that Iâd looked at since most domestic microwaves tended to be 800 watts and with a lesser internal volume. The extra power and internal volume come at a cost and not just in pounds-and-pence, as it is bigger than 800 watt microwaves tend to be which together with the clearance space around the appliance means that it does take up a fair bit of space. It was a choice between this Swan model and a commercial microwave by another manufacturer and whilst the commercial one was nearly twice the price I would have expected it to be sturdy and to have lasted a good deal longer, and sturdy is something that the Swan isnât. The controls and the handles are quite obviously plastic â and it makes it look cheap (which it might have been for Swan to make, if not for me to buy), but it does the job and it does it quickly! Itâs easy to use and thereâs no faffing with this-that-or-tâother button to press, as it is basically just a case of bung the food in and turn the dial and itâs cooking, so why complicate things with all sorts of buttons like some have.I wouldnât say that it is a bargain though (I paid £75) and if it was to be used in a small kitchen where space was at a premium, I would definitely recommend getting a smaller model as it is costly in the space is uses up.Would I buy it again? Yes, at least I wouldnât not do I suppose.
