Gets very very hot!
This is to replace a Kenwood microwave I’ve had for about 10 years. This still worked fine but I discovered the inner top had rusted and was dropping bits onto food.Hoped this slightly smaller unit would be as good and last as long. Unfortunately first impressions are not so good.A) The manual timer dials are rather imprecise. There’s no way to set a one minute cook time for doing a scrambled or poached egg for instance. The divisions are too small and the dial indicator too indistinct.B) The oven gets hot. I mean really hot and not on the inside but the whole metal case. After a few minutes at full power I couldn’t hold my hand on the steel casing. Now that is a lot of heat for this thing to be putting out. The Kenwood got warm I admit but it just got warm not scalding hot and only at the rear top where the cooling slats are. This is worrying as the insides must be suffering badly for the outside to be this hot and not just the top but the sides too.C) Contrary to what others have said this is quite noisy. The hum is fine but there’s also a noticeable rattle type buzz when the microwave power switches on.I make full use of my microwave and together with my halogen oven I cook 90% of my meals rather than use a full size cooker/oven. I really am not at all happy with the oven and will investigate the returns procedure.Well I decided I could not live with the Tower so I asked for a refund. Seller and Amazon were easy to deal with and I have now only to get to my local Coop and drop it off. This simple problem solving is one of the reasons Amazon is my go-to supplier for just about anything I buy these days. It means you need not have any qualms about internet purchasing and if there are problems they are solved quickly- excellent.

Just the right size for my needs, it does want it says. Price was middle of the road range and works well. Not there for fashion show so appearance doesn’t bother me, has low noise and heats well.
